You can delete a tie; the inference stays. Link-prediction models rebuild removed connections from the nodes around you, and topology alone re-identifies a stripped node. DataReportal counts 5.79 billion social media identities in April 2026, up 294 million in a year, with the typical user on about 6.5 platforms a month, so fragmentation rewards whoever can stitch the pieces together. The Court of Justice reached the tie in OT (2022) and aggregation in Meta v Bundeskartellamt (2023), but not the inference built from other people's data.
